My Promise
In the spirit of transparency and the like, I want to be clear that every blog post I write, and every product or service I recommend, is done on my own accord and is based on my direct experience with the product.
That being said, if the product or service I review or recommend does have an affiliate program available – I am likely using it. And why not? If I’m going to sink some effort into reviewing something or providing resources for others, and by using a customized link I can get a few bucks from it… I don’t feel icky about it at all.
The problem with many affiliate marketers is that the cart comes before the horse, so to speak. If there is a good commission to be earned, this will encourage them to market that product. For me, this is not the way to build genuinely helpful content. For me, it’s all horse
The Bottom Line
Only a couple of my recommendations are even using affiliate links. But regardless of whether or not I get a couple bucks from a referral, I will not recommend products or services on this blog that I have not personally tested and loved. If something I choose to write about or recommend happens to have an affiliate program.. great! I could use the extra lunch money
If not, also great! I’m just happy to try and provide helpful information and resources to people who might be in a similar position to me, and who might benefit from my previous experiences.
